***MORE ABOUT THE ARTIST: HARUYO MORITA***
Haruyo Morita was born in Kita-Katsushika County, Saitama Prefecture, in Japan in 1945, right after Word War II. From an early age she demonstrated great artistic vision. Her talent led to her being accepted as a student as a young girl by artistic masters many years her senior. She learned classical pictorial compositions that have become famous in Japan and globally.
As a schoolgirl in 1960, she won art awards for a regional art competition, and at a prefecture art exhibition in 1962. In Japan, a prefecture (県/けん, ken) is an administrative division of local government that is a level below the national government. Japan has 47 prefectures. Morita’s achievement at such a young age impressed the art community.
After serving mandatory apprenticeships, Haruyo worked as a kimono painter and designer until 1972. Then she began her illustrious career of sharing her artistic vision with the world in various mediums.
Her work can best be described as a contemporary representation of the traditional Ukiyo-e, and it ranges from the Heian to Edo and Meiji periods.
Morita has relocated to London and to Australia. She has held exhibitions in London, Honolulu, Los Angeles, New York, Saudi Arabia, Tokyo and Yokoyama.

I use your information to provide the services you requested and in my legitimate interest toimprove my services; and 2) Compliance with the Etsy Seller Policy and Terms of Use. I use your information as necessary to comply with my obligations under the Etsy Seller Policy and Terms of Use.
